About Us

Hi, I’m Lana, designer of Deco Tot ;)

Welcome!

I started Deco Tot as a way to express my creativity and the never wavering ability to be a big kid. Growing up in Belarus in the 80’s and early 90’s without many modern conveniences and distractions like video games and even a landline phone gave me a lot of time to explore my imagination. I read a lot. I drew a lot. I invented games. If we didn’t have access to a toy, I learned to draw and cut one out. My sister and I created whole worlds out of paper and a box of markers.

Today, being a new mom to a little girl has given me the opportunity to relive the wonder of childhood. It reminded me that giving kids the freedom and inspiration to explore their creativity is one of the best things we can do to help them become a curious, creative and a unique individual with a long lasting love of problem solving and learning. I try to reflect this idea in my art - something adorable to capture the imagination.

I remember how excited I used to get by a stack of crisp white paper - all the possibilities! I still get excited when I see a blank page - or this time, my Wacom tablet where I do all my sketching these days.

To produce the art you see on Deco Tot, our goal was to partner with a U.S. based professional printer to print locally in order to help limit our environmental footprint. Each design is printed especially for you only when an order is placed, saving time and valuable resources. All of our prints are printedusing acid free archival inks on museum grade paper. Which means that all art we produce will stay beautifully crisp, outlasting even those baby’s terrible twos!

Working on Deco Tot has given me a much wanted outlet where I can share my little creations with the world. I’m inspired by everything in the world around me - from vintage fairy tale illustrations I grew up with, to architecture, to nature and especially the animal kingdom, where you can see the loving bond between parent and child on the most fundamental, primal level.

I will continue to add more art, inspirations and share stories as more ideas pop into my head. To only have time to execute it all!

Please enjoy and feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions!
